Almost everything about Hunter Pence is better than Nate Schierholtz. One 0-for-4 game doesn’t mean anything.
Hunter Pence’s 2012 season line: .271/.336/.447 with 17 HR.
Career line: .290/.342/.481 averaging 25 HR/yr
Nate Schierholtz’s 2012 line: .257/.327/.429 with 5 HR
Career line: .270/.319/.412 averaging 7 HR/yr.
Hunter has more power, and is a bigger offensive threat than Nate. Nate’s numbers aren’t bad, but having Hunter on your team really doesn’t hurt. Giants are in win now mode. He helps that. He’s good, guys.
Plus. The Giants gave up a top prospect who is blocked. He’s a catcher, and Buster Posey isn’t going anywhere any time soon. He’s very young and very good.
